Legacy has worked across Volkswagen’s portfolio of sponsorships since 2014 which has included GAA, Soccer and Rugby.

In 2017, Legacy and Volkswagen received a best sponsorship award at the PR Industry Awards for the Volkswagen GAA 7s campaign. Along with a very comprehensive PR and activation plan around the event itself, the Volkswagen Sevens TV digital idea was a key driver in the award. Real time match and goal highlights ran on Volkswagen’s Twitter page throughout the Football Sevens at Kilmacud Crokes, enabling over 4 million people around Ireland to witness this exciting form of GAA.

Legacy currently works with Volkswagen Ireland on their international football partnership with UEFA which will include Ireland’s staging of games in EURO 2020. Legacy also manages an annual under 13 soccer tournament in Dublin – the Volkswagen Junior Masters. Established in 2014, the grassroots event has become one of the premier underage soccer tournaments in Ireland with scouts travelling from the UK to witness the Ireland’s top young footballers in action. Along with managing the tournament on behalf of Volkswagen, Legacy produces the communications campaign and tournament village each year.

Volkswagen is also an official partner of Irish Rugby and throughout the 6 Nations in 2018, Legacy worked with Volkswagen’s media and advertising agency to produce a very successful through the line campaign called #RoadToRugby which put the dedication of the Irish rugby fan to the fore. Volkswagen FanTV was created which saw a braded Volkswagen content unit and Fan TV presenter talk to fans at each home game. A suite of video content was posted on Volkswagen’s social media channels throughout the tournament.
